Despite his injury-forced hiatus from the game, the golf world has not been devoid of Woods’ name. Tiger Woods‘ son, Charlie Woods, has started to make headlines in the golf community. The 14-year-old has been observed as being dedicated to carving out his name alongside the Hall of Famer in the history of golf.

But his unopposed run might not go on for very long. The golf world saw another potential competitor in the son of a LIV Golf pro. But what’s more amazing is the possibility of the young golfer locking horns with Woods’ son in the future. Something to look forward to without a doubt, isn’t it?

Ian Poulter defected to the Saudi-backed league after its inception in 2021. Although he has been having a bumpy year of sorts in 2023, the Poulter name has started doing the rounds with his son Luke all set to battle it out on the course.

The LIV pro’s son will be making his first tee shot as a Florida Gator at the Fighting Illini Invitational, set to take place at the Olympia Fields Country Club in Chicago, Illinois. It’s an important moment for the Poulter family as the redshirt freshman would be getting his first taste of collegiate action in “one of the biggest events of the season”.

The teenage Poulter is likely to be a contender for the young Charlie Woods even as the latter is slowly building up his legacy in the game. Being a prodigy in his own right, Charlie has earlier won the Major Championship at Village Golf Course in Royal Palm Beach, Florida. Moreover, he also finished as a runner-up with his legend of a father at the PNC Championship in 2021.

Although the young prodigy is just 14 years old, he has proven himself on the course multiple times with the guidance of his GOAT father. Moreover, any aspiring golfer should never take the junior Woods lightly with the amount of hard work he has put into his golf. The same would be the case for young Poulter in any events where he finds himself pitted against Charlie. For now, one can say he is on the right path with the accolades he has garnered to date.

The 19-year-old has not disappointed the golf community, including his father, with the massive expectations on his shoulders. The junior Poulter has made quite a name for himself as an amateur. The young golfer was named the Orlando Sentinel Player of the Year in 2021 before going on to win the Willow Cup in Alabama in 2022, pushing himself up for his collegiate career.

Moreover, his T14 finish at the SBIA with a low score of 64 will prove to be a comfort for his teammates — Parker Bell, Ian Gilligan, Matthew Cress, and Jack Turner. All five together are competing in the Fighting Illini Invitational. After the competition, the Gators will head to the SEC Fall Match Play Championships in Birmingham, Alabama, on September 25.
